The founder's notebook
I spent a lot of years trying to figure out what I was supposed to be.
And on paper, I've been a lot of things.
I've spent more than two decades in the military, building a career in leadership, recruiting, career development, and helping people navigate major life decisions.
Outside of the military, my path was anything but linear.
I've built businesses. Closed businesses. Invested in real estate. Changed directions. Spoken on stages. Earned degrees, certifications, awards, and recognition.
I've succeeded. I've failed. I've grieved. I've started over. I've questioned myself. I've reinvented myself more than once.
For years, I thought all those different directions meant I hadn't figured out my "thing" yet.
Eventually, I realized something:
Maybe I was never supposed to be one thing.
The common thread wasn't a job title.
It was people.
Understanding them. Encouraging them. Helping them see possibilities they couldn't see yet. Helping them navigate change. And eventually, helping them understand themselves.
But there was another realization that changed everything for me.
You can build a life that looks successful and still reach a point where you have to ask:
Does the life I built still fit the person I've become?
That question became personal as I started looking at my own next chapter.
After decades of structure, responsibility, achievement, leadership, taking care of people, building businesses, investing, traveling, learning and constantly moving toward the next goal, I realized I didn't need another accomplishment.
I needed to understand what I actually wanted now.
Not what made sense on paper.
Not what I had always done.
Not what other people expected from me.
Me. Now.
And the more I explored that question, the more I realized how many other women were standing in exactly the same place.
We're good at becoming things.
The professional.
The mother.
The wife.
The Soldier.
The entrepreneur.
The caretaker.
The successful one.
The strong one.
But after years of becoming everything everyone needed us to be, sometimes we have to meet ourselves again.
BecomLab is a space for becoming, but not in the traditional "new year, new you" sense.
I don't believe you need to erase yourself and become some shiny new version of you.
You already have years of experiences, mistakes, accomplishments, intuition, lessons, patterns, strengths, relationships, losses, dreams and wisdom.
That's your data.
BecomLab is about getting curious about that data.
That's also why I call it a Lab.
A lab isn't a place where you're expected to already know the answer.
You observe.
You question.
You experiment.
You learn.
You adjust.
You try again.
That's how I believe personal growth should work too.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Not somebody handing you a formula for the "perfect life."
Curiosity. Awareness. Experimentation. Alignment. Action.
BecomLab is one studio with different entry points, all built around the same philosophy. The Life Scan™ was the first major experience and remains the flagship, but it is not the whole story.
Each path meets a different need, but the work underneath remains connected: examine what is true, use what you already carry, and build your next move with intention.
What still fits? What is ready to change? What are you ready to build next?
BecomLab is ultimately about one idea:
You don't have to have yourself completely figured out to move forward.
Neither do I.
I'm still becoming too.
I'm building my next chapter in real time as I prepare to retire from the Army next year, using many of the same questions, tools and principles I share here.
People ask me, “What do you want to do after you retire?”
Me? I want to be free to do whatever the heck I want.
Maybe that's why I don't want this space to feel like there's a guru standing on one side and everyone else standing on the other.
I bring my education, leadership experience, training, tools and decades of real-life experience to the table.
You bring your life.
Then we get curious about what we can build with it.
Because you're not starting from scratch.
You're starting from experience.
Welcome to BecomLab.
Let's see what you become.
